What Happened at the EthStaker’s Staking Gathering?
We've just wrapped up a fantastic and intense Devconnect week, and we're now gradually getting back on track. I aim to share a brief overview of the events and standout presentations from the EthStaker Gathering. Let's dive in!
Note: The insights here are based on the presentations I managed to catch and found intriguing. For other excellent presentations that I missed, you can check out the EthStaker YouTube channel.
Day 1: The first day kicked off with the team all set and attendees beginning to arrive. Familiar faces, registered participants, and hundreds of stakers, researchers, developers, and enthusiasts gathered. The EthStaker Gathering's unifying atmosphere enabled people to benefit from each other’s ideas and projects.
One of the notable presentations of the first day was by the ETHKipu and KipuStakers team, who shared their work in LATAM. The team, which prepared the Spanish version of Rhino Review, discussed their activities in Latin America here.

Then, we listened to the LST market dynamics from a user research perspective in James Smith’s presentation 'Stop trying to be too funky with your LSTs and focus on the basics'.

Another attention-grabbing presentation of the day was Marek from the Nethermind team’s 'Client Diversity - A Nethermind Core Dev Perspective'. Marek presented his arguments on the prons and cons of client diversity.

Day 2: On the second day, we had the chance to listen to great sessions back-to-back. Paritosh's presentation 'What?... Merge testing is evolving (Insert pokemon evolving logo here)' was quite interesting in what it brought for home stakers according to Dencun.

Then Danny Ryan took the stage and conveyed the importance of diversity with incredibly good analogies.

Justin Drake talked about the design challenges encountered and the solutions developed in his presentation 'Beacon chain design mistakes'

Alex Stokes in the 'State of our union' presentation tackled Ethereum with its good and concerning aspects. Frankly, I believe this presentation, which had quite objective comments, should be examined more carefully, and we need to rethink how we position all our efforts on a larger scale.

Short takeaways covering two days:
The content and presentations were strong. I had listened to similar presentations by the speakers at other events, but I saw that they were modified for more detailed and some new additions were made when coming here.
DVT is currently a hot topic. It has transitioned from being a niche subject last year to one of the main items on the agenda now.
I attended several talks on diversity, which I believe should be more emphasized. It's important to consider diversity not only in clients but also in protocol, validators, builders, nodes, and in serving data to peers diversity.
The organization was flawless. Despite being held in a hotel, it didn't feel like a hotel at all.
Thank you very much for reading my observations of this event!

Client Diversity Is Not Optional - It’s critical
Many know client diversity is vital for a more resilient network, but they don’t understand why or just how essential it is. It’s not only important — it’s critical!
